The Writers in Prison Committee of International PEN
protests the re-arrest of dissident writer and member of
the Independent Chinese PEN Centre Du Daobin, who was
detained on 21 July 2008 for apparently violating the
conditions of
独立中文笔会惊悉,本会会员杜导斌于今天上午11点左右在湖北省应城市医疗改革办公室工作地点被警方带走;警方指称杜在其缓刑期中违反了有关法律规定,发表了100多篇文章,将其缓刑改为收监实服刑。随后,孝感市公安局及其所属应城市公安局人员搜查了他的家,抄走了电脑及一些文稿材料,包括亲属寄放其家的电脑和家属在其过去被拘押期间收到的慰问信。
但是,警方除了为杜的家人留下一份抄走物品的清单之外,并没有出示法院的新裁决或任何其它书面文件,也未通知其家属任何关押地点和联络方式。
(纽约—多伦多—斯德哥尔摩2008年7月21日)距北京奥运会开幕不足三周,中国当局重新收监笔会会员、前政治犯、作家杜导斌,并正式逮捕作家兼维权人士黄琦。国内外笔会谴责这些行动,并呼吁国际社会向中国政府施压,以终止这种“对言论自由的公然打压”。
New York, Toronto, Stockholm, July 21, 2008—Less than four weeks before the Olympic Games open in Beijing, Chinese authorities have re-arrested writer, former political prisoner, and PEN member Du Daobin and filed formal charges against writer and human rights activist Huang Qi.
