Name: Alma Aileen Joy Anonas-Carpio (my newspaper byline is Alma Anonas-Carpio, but my literary byline is still Alma S. Anonas)

Brief Bio: Alma (Jerri to her friends), 32, works as the IT correspondent of BusinessMirror newspaper (http://www.businessmirror.com.ph), a contributing writer for Medical Observer
Magazine (http://www.medobserver.com), a contributor for the Philippines Graphic Magazine (http://www.philippinegraphic.com) and as a stringer for the Agence France
Presse news agency’s Manila bureau.

Poetry has also seen publication in the anthology “In Our Own Words: A Generation Defining Itself Vol. 7”
published by MW Enterprises and the Philippines Graphic Magazine.

Membership Committee Chair of the IT Journalists’ Association of the Philippines (ITJAP, also known as CyberPress).

She has been a journalist for 10 years, working for various print and online publications as a reporter and, later, in various editorial posts over that span of time. She won a Palanca award for her poetry collection “Random Access Memories” in 1994. Jerri is a mother of twins Sabrina and Alessandra Anonas and is married to freelance writer Relly Carpio. They reside in Makati City.

Magazine, an issue of the Manila Standard’s lifestyle section, the now-defunct Evening Paper and
the Philippine Graphic. She has read her poetry at the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ (CCP)
Bayside readings, Sanctum Unmasct bar, Freedom Bar in Quezon City and at various other poetry bars. Her
poetry has been included in the anthologies Gaudeamus Caracoa (published by the Philippine Literary
Arts Council), Ani 28 (CCP), Eros Pinoy (Anvil Publishing) and Father Poems (Anvil Publishing).
