many tiny islands
my dear islands
jewels in the sea
dotting oceania
license my eager hands
to roam
to rove
all over you
to feel
you
to peel you
let me see you
let me really see you
let me paint you
with colours of myself
the earthy colours of tapa
and soft pastels of morning
the azure blues of lagoons
and deep greens of mountains
the explosive reds of sunsets
and silvery stars at night
see, the paint runs
in a million tiny veins
a kaleidoscope
of colours
of oceania
let me sing for you
with my very being
rhythms of my heart
the roar of waves
deep thunder of gongs
the glorious calls of the conch
hypnotic beats of lali
rhythmic clapping
beating a melody
across the sea
the sounds
of oceania
let me dance for you
with moves of my being
see, the grace of tau’olunga
the vigour of fatele
sensual sways of tamure
the might of meke
chants of kamei
the fury of haka
pace of sasa
to siva more
the grace
of oceania
isa my islands
i want to know you
i want to really
know you
