Asia Literary Review now has an online presence

Asia Literary Review, until now available in print only, is making its
presence felt on-line with the launch of a new website.

Hailed as ‘Destined to become hugely influential’ by Time Out, and
‘Absolutely brilliant’ by Granta senior editor Rosalind Porter, under
publisher Ilyas Khan ALR has in the past year moved from local to global
prominence, with the print version of the magazine now on sale across Asia,
in the UK, Canada, Australia and the US.

‘Asia Literary Review publishes the best writing from and about Asia,’ said
editor Chris Wood. ‘When Granta galvanised the literary scenes in London and
New York in the 80s and 90s, it tapped into a rich vein of young talent as
well as the existing literary establishments in those centres. ALR is mining
a similarly rich scene, the emerging literature of new Asian writing in
English. But where is the centre? Perhaps surprisingly, it might be argued
that the centre is New York, or London. But you can equally make the
argument that it is to be found on-line.

‘Being a print-only journal has served ALR well and we have come a very
long way in a short time. It has kept us honest and purist in our approach.
But the time has come to spread our wings.’
