Equinox Publishing releases the Classic Indonesia series

Tuesday, March 13, 2007

Equinox Publishing’s Classic Indonesia series is a collection of out-of-print, classic works on Indonesia that are brought back to life using the latest digital printing technology.

Primarily based around Cornell University Press’ extensive back catalog, the Classic Indonesia series contains books by noted authors such as Benedict Anderson, Ruth T. McVey, Widjojo Nitisastro and many others. Topics range from the revolutionary movement in the 1940s to population growth in the 1950s to the rise of the Communist party in the 1960s – and several of these books are still banned by Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office. (open the Jakarta Post’s articles on the banning here and here in pdf format)

For decades, these critically-acclaimed titles have been required reading for Indonesian scholars and are now available to a new generation of Indonesians and Indonesianists who are eager to learn about the country’s turbulent past.
