“Goodbye May”

[for Lynda].

here I am ready for you
to crush
by your fierce thorny eyes
and womanly language
take my heart and tear it
it is your to discard
capture my blood
and drink it with hate
take my vein and wrap
your vengeful bitterness
I leave for eternity
At break of dawn.

When I am dead and no longer exists
In the quietness of the night
In the moonlight
Pay a visit to my grave
Upon it you will a dancing rose
Take it, love it or hate it
Then shred it mercilessly over my grave
And dance the cruel rhythm of your desire

Let kingfishers alone
Play over my grave
It’s theirs to keep
From beneath, you’ll hear music
It’s music from a mouth bow
It’s music from my contrite heart
It’s a dead man’s lullaby

Thence I shall say
Good-bye May
Peace is forever mine.
