Brief Bio: Professor of Pacific Education and UNESCO Chair in teacher education and culture, the University of the South Pacific, Suva, FIJI.  Born and raised in Tonga, with university education in
New Zealand, California and the South Pacific, Konai has been on the staff of the University of the South Pacific since 1974.  She has researched and published widely in the area of culturally inclusive
curriculum and teaching, women and university management, indigenous education, cultural democracy in education and sustainable development.


Konai is a widely read poet with with five collections published so far:

You the Choice of My Parents (1974); Langakali (1981);
Hingano (1987); Kakala (1993); and Songs of Love (1999).
