In this highly interactive workshop, they will explore ways in which storytelling can be used effectively to teach math, science, history, language, arts, and much more, to send you away motivated and prepared to enliven your teaching through story!


Bobby Norfolk is a three-time Emmy Award winner and a recipient of a Parents’ Choice honour as one of the most popular and dynamic story-educators in the U.S.
Sherry Norfolk, with several National awards under her belt, offers inspiring and energizing staff development workshops which demonstrate storytelling as a tool that empowers educators.


The Moral of the Story:  Character Education through Storytelling

Meaningful, experiential character lessons can be developed effectively and non-didactically through storytelling! Learn to use storytelling to infuse character education throughout the curriculum, resulting in character education instruction that is meaningful and non-confrontational, one which is accessible to all learning styles and applicable to multiple intelligences.

A Fulbright scholar, Kevin Cordi is cited as “the first full time storytelling teacher in the country.” He has coached an award-winning youth storytelling group entitled Voices of Illusion.  Kevin is also the first-ever storyteller to serve a residency at the Ohio State University after being appointed as the Storyteller-in-Residence for one academic year.


Imaginative Ensemble Story Teaching: Creative Thinking and Telling

A high-energy workshop that involves everyone in the delightful blend between “Social Imagination” and “Narrative Telling”. Using process drama and storytelling you will understand how, building from the narrative, and the employing of questions, kids and adults can heighten their awareness of any content material.  This highly teachable and innovative seminar is developed from Kevin’s Ph.D. studies and his 18 years as a professional story teacher.

The Songs, the Words, and the Story (in Mandarin)

The Chinese language is a story language, and as few as one or two characters can tell a story. 
Discover the proverb-stories such as “Draw Snake Add Fee,” “Vinegar and Jealousy” and find the humor and wisdom within them.
Explore the stories, the verses, the pronunciation, and the music of songs, so you can create your own versions of the stories and tell them with the songs you have learned.
Fluent in both Mandarin and English, Linda Fang delights with thought-provoking stories from Chinese history and opera, legends, folktales, as well as famous Chinese characters. 

 

Vaarthai Jaalam: Wonder Words (in Tamil)

Language activities that promote listening skills, encourage reading, and in turn improve writing skills.
