The Australia Macao Poetry Evening

Friday, November 02, 2007

This is to announce the Australia-Macao Poetry evening to be held in the
STDM theatre at the University of Macau’s International Library – from 6 to
8 pm on Tuesday 6th November, 2007. All are welcome and admission is free.

Featured at the readings are three invited Australian poets: Adam Aitken,
Peter Bakowski and Carolyn van Langenberg. Peter Bakowski is the Asialink
Writer-in-Residence for 2007 in the English Department at the University of
Macau. Macao poets featured at the readings include Yao Jingming (who
writes under the name Yao Feng), Lili Han, Elisa Lai, Li Ying, Agnes Vong
and Amy Wong. With a foot in both camps is the MC for the night, Australian
poet Christopher (Kit) Kelen, who has taught Creative Writing at the
University of Macau for the last seven years.

The readings coincide with the launch of Poetry Macao – Macao’s first on-line English-language poetry
magazine (http://www.geocities.com/poetrymacao/).

Note that the following night the readers will be doing a similar reading at United International
College (across the border on the mainland, in Zhuhai).
