THE UBUD WRITERS & READERS FESTIVAL:
25 - 30 September 2007.

Recently named ‘among the top six literary Festivals in the world’ by UK Harper’s Bazaar, the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival is set in Ubud, Bali’s lush artistic heartland.

The 2007 Festival will live up to its world-class reputation with six days of rousing discussions, creative workshops, book launches, languid literary lunches and dinners, a free children’s program plus poetry, theatre, film, music and dance —an exhilarating program in one of the world’s most beautiful settings.

This year, 80 writers from 16 different countries will gather in Ubud, including Kiran Desai, the winner of the 2006 Man Booker Prize; Su Tong, author of Raise the Red Lantern; glamorous Lebanese writer Joumana Haddad; award-winning Australian author Richard Flanagan; and the ‘enfant terrible’ of Pakistani literature Mohsin Hamid. No wonder the Festival is described as a ‘magical and mystical mix of East and West’.
