VASU Pacific Women of Power

VASU Pacific Women of Power is an initiative that brings together forty-six
female artists in an art extravaganza never seen before in Fiji and
perhaps in the Pacific.

Art forms featured include: painting, writing, film,fashion design, short stories, sculpture, pottery, photography, dance and music.
A combination of women artists including both veteran, and emerging, the event
begins with a three day exhibition of the visual arts at the University of the
South Pacific’s Oceania Center for Arts and Culture from September 25 to the
27th.
It includes a series of seminars and workshops including clay and pottery
making, printmaking, painting and writing workshops in both the areas of prose
and poetry.
A reading night will be held at the TRAPS back bar on Thursday
September 25th and a museum launch on October the 1st for ‘a night of film,
fashion, music and dance’.
An exhibition catalogue will also be available from the USP Bookcentre following the exhibition.
The VASU exhibition will be housedat the Fiji Museum for the duration of the month of October. Curators of the
event are Jakki Leota-Ete, Ann Tarte, Cresantia Frances Koya and Luisa Tora.
