Founded in the 1991, the biennial Singapore Writers Festival has been the major literary event in Singapore. It brings international writers to Singapore audiences and Singapore and Asian writers to International audiences.

The Utan Kayu International Literary Biennale
In 2001, Komunitas Utan Kayu hosted an unprecedented international literary event with authors and poets from Indonesia and nine other nations performing for audiences in Jakarta and Yogyakarta. The 2001 program was a collaboration between KUK and Winternachten of the Hague, Netherlands.

The 2008 Ubud Writers and Readers Festival is scheduled to take place from the 14-19 October and will explore the theme Tri Hita Karana, which is all about the relationships between humans and God, humans and each other and humans and their environment.

The annual Hong Kong International Literary Festival is the premier English-language literary event in East Asia and the only such event explicitly focusing on literature with Asian roots.
