                  ASM’s 2010 Booklaunch

          The distinguished Hong Kong scholar and poet
                Professor Leung Ping Kwan

    At a ceremony to be held at CCI (Creative Macau) at the Macao
Cultural Centre, ASM (the Association of Stories in Macao) will launch
thirteen new books, covering a range of categories, including contemporary
and classical poetry, poetry translation, short fiction and life writing.
Guest of honour at the launch will be the famous Hong Kong poet and Lingnan
University Comparative Literature Chair, Professor Leung Ping Kwan.

    Established in 2005, ASM is a non-profit government-registered
community organisation dedicated to the promotion of writing and other
artistic expression from and about Macao. Up until now, ASM has published
fifty books, including poetry, novels, stories for children, teaching
guides and much classical poetry in translation. ASM has published first
books of poetry or fiction by many young Macao authors. This year’s launch
features a second volume of (twenty) Australian poets, presented in
parallel text, in English and Chinese.

    The books to be launched on December 18th are as follows:

            Macao Stories ? A Book of Life Writing

              in the Australian poets series:

          Wombats of Bundanon ? Twenty Australian Poets

              in the contemporary poets series:

                Leung Ping Kwan’s amblings

        Kit Kelen’s China years ? new and selected poems

                  Yao Feng’s in brief

              Chris Song Zijiang’s strolling

            Richard Stanley-Baker’s dreaming time

              (co-published with VAC in Chicago)
            birthplace - ten poets from Guangdong

              in the classical poets series:

            Yu Xuanji - hard to find a loving man

          Li Qingzhao - spring hides in the little room

    the peacock flies south-east - an anthology of Han Dynasty poetry

  shadows of flowers fall across shutters- an anthology of Yuan Dynasty
                      poetry

                The launch ceremony will also feature the award of
the ASM Creative Writing Prize for 2010

ASM Prize for Creative Writing 2010

ASM (The Association of Stories in Macao) is pleased to announce its annual
prize for Creative Writing. Entries will be accepted in the following
areas:
  -  short fiction (up to 5,000 words)
  -  poetry (a suite of poems or a single poem)
  -  life writing (up to 5,000 words)
  -  bilingual writing in any creative genre (where one of the texts is in
    English)

Anyone who was a student in Macao during the calendar year 2010 is eligible
to enter. Both published and unpublished works may be entered. Works which
are published should be acknowledged as such. Entries for the award should
be sent by email attachment to (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on or before Sunday 12th
December. The subject line for the email should include ‘ASM Prize for
Creative Writing 2010’ and the entrant’s name and the title of the work
entered.  The prize/s will be awarded at the ASM annual booklaunch to be
held on Saturday 18th December at 4 pm at CCI (Macao Cultural Centre).
